Stag in Charcoal & Graphite
Thursday, 24th September
18:30 - 21:00
The Wayfarer, Alder Lane, Parbold WN8 7NL
Create this beautiful, atmospheric stag in a relaxed and fully guided art workshop using charcoal, graphite and a touch of watercolour.
Working on a largescale on a heavyweight cartridge paper, you’ll build up your stag using layering, shading, smudging and expressive mark-making, before introducing watercolour to create that dramatic, smoky background.
No drawing is required. You’ll have a pre-drawn pencil grey image ready for you, so the whole evening can be spent enjoying the charcoal and watercolour process.
I’ll demonstrate each technique up close as we go, with plenty of individual help and one-to-one teaching from a qualified Art & Design teacher.
A timeless classic. Atmospheric, bold and especially beautiful for autumn and winter, it’s the sort of finished piece that looks stunning framed and that you’ll actually be proud to put up at home rather than shove in a cupboard! It would also make a lovely handmade gift.

Highland Heather
Thursday 22nd, October 2026
The Wayfarer, Alder Lane, Parbold WN8 7NL
18:00- 21:00
Join Julia for a relaxing autumn evening of painting at The Wayfarer in Parbold.
For this fully guided Sip & Paint, we’ll be creating Highland Heather - a dramatic Scottish landscape filled with sweeping distant mountains, cool blue-grey skies and deep slate tones, softened with earthy greens, warm ochres and golden grasses. In the foreground, layers of pink, mauve, lilac and soft white wildflowers bring the whole landscape to life, creating a beautiful contrast between the moody Highlands and the brighter, more expressive colour below.
Working in acrylics on a premium A3 stretched canvas, follow along with Julia as she paints the artwork live in front of you, teaching you step by step with full guidance so no one is left behind.
Expect loose expressive marks, beautiful layers of colour and a relaxed, supportive atmosphere throughout.
Absolutely no previous painting experience is needed. This is designed to be beginner-friendly, enjoyable and sociable from start to finish.
